Exhibition La Poética del Gesto, Iván Tovar

April 04, 2019

Dream, whisper, sensuality curl up in magic drawings. However, audacity and refinement take the paths of a new dimension, perhaps more austere. Here, they transmit a less baroque and contorted intensity of their vertigos.

Adornos Recientes, new solo exhibition from artist Dalton Gata

May 12, 2017

The artist, obsessed with light, needs to imitate surfaces and textures through painting as part of his exploratory artistic process. This sample evidences the reference to diversity and the slightly-dark mood characteristic of Dalton Gata: Objects and ornaments are presented as living characters who seem to pose, in an atmosphere of very intimate complicity.

Adornos Recientes tells us about accumulating, collecting, and decorating, but more than anything: it is a glimpse of the current moment in Dalton's journey as an artist and his aesthetic concerns. Evidencing more than ever his intention to make us reflect on the old-fashioned, almost diffuse relationship of empathy between the piece of art and the observer.

In every creation I try to arouse concern about who we are. Exposing our state of consciousness, and in this, the humanization process in which we find ourselves and the search for whom we really are".

Volta NY 2016 #KeepsIt100

March 13, 2016

"Nine years on and VOLTA NY is going strong, staking its position as a globally conscious fair for new art and reaffirming the fundamental point that a solo focus on artists is the standard — not the exception — for cultivating a critical and collecting base. The resounding praise from today's distinguished press, from Observer to Hyperallergic to The New York Times, emphasizes VOLTA's efforts on the international scene and its accessible solo-project format, and visitors responded with feeling, with a record-breaking 25,000 visiting through Sunday, including repeat trips from key patrons.

(...) Lucy García Gallery (Santo Domingo) likewise received considerable attention for Domincan artist Jorge Pineda's latest body of work, selling all four parts of his Superego series on paper to a New York institution and more works to the Dominican Republic. (...)".

Aún Otros is the second attempt of a repetitive soliloquy looking for a definitive and simpler way to say or show. Still obsessive and lonely, still with the same desire to be someone else, I keep looking in the faces that haunt me, in strange perspectives that are suddenly abstract, my own space." - Dalton Gata.
